“ With hope filled imagination, let us draw near to those who are broken-hearted and oppressed. They are our leaders. Their smiles and courage point the way.”

LEADERSHIP

Open wide the doors!  Listen!  Seize the moment!

These dynamic principles embolden the House of Peace to
“Leap and trust that the net will unfold.”

The House of Peace, founded in 2004, has grown beyond imagination under the leadership of S. Lesley Sacouman, the House of Peace Leadership Circle, and the astute Board of Directors.

  • In 2009, overwhelmed by the suffering of immigrant and refugee women, the House of Peace initiated a capital campaign, “ONward and UPward,” and in 2012 tripled its capacity to provide a safe and supportive home for newcomer women.

  • In 2011, the House of Peace received The Red Cross Power of Humanity Award for its bold and innovative leadership in the community.

  • In 2013, the House of Peace helped launch Marie Rose Place:
40 two- bedroom apartments for newcomer women and their children.

  • In 2018, the Institute for International Women's Rights, MB honours the House of Peace at its Local to Global event: Women at the Heart of Peace.

  • In 2022, Great excitement! The House of Peace "Beyond Bricks" capital campaign is a major success. We have a home! We own our home! ThankyouThankyouThank you!

Today as yesterday, the tireless energy and radical welcome of staff and volunteers inspires Winnipeggers to partner as volunteers and benefactors.
